Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Fidel mobile application (the “App”) handles information. Fidel is an educational app that provides Tigrinya learning activities, a dictionary, word reels, games, and translation tools.

Information we collect

Most learning content can be used without signing in. If you create an account, Firebase Authentication processes your email address, password, account identifier, and display name. Your chosen username is stored in Cloud Firestore when you save your profile. These details support sign-in, profile editing, and account management. Do not include sensitive information in your display name or username.

Memberships and payments

Optional Fidel Gold subscriptions remove ads. Apple or Google handles payment; Fidel does not receive your full payment-card details. RevenueCat processes an anonymous identifier or your Firebase account identifier, purchase history, transaction receipts, subscription status, and technical information to verify membership and restore purchases. Deleting the app or your Fidel account does not cancel a subscription: manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account.

Advertising and technical information

The free version can display Google AdMob ads. The app requests non-personalized, child-directed ads with a general-audience content rating. Non-personalized ads still involve data processing: Google's advertising SDK may process IP addresses, approximate location derived from IP, device or app identifiers, ad interactions, and diagnostic or performance information. Gold membership prevents the app from displaying ads while membership is active. Firebase and other service providers may also process technical information to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot their services.

Translation and handwriting features

When you choose to use translation, the text you enter and the selected languages are sent over the internet to a Google translation service so the requested translation can be returned. When you use handwriting recognition, the handwriting input needed to recognize the characters is sent to a Google input service. Do not enter sensitive or personal information into these features. Google may process technical information, such as an IP address, as part of providing and securing its services. Google’s handling of information is governed by its own privacy policy.

Information stored on your device

App settings and learning interactions may be held locally on your device as needed for the App to function. Account and membership information described above is processed by the corresponding cloud services. You can remove locally stored App information by deleting the App or clearing its storage through your device settings.

Children’s privacy

Fidel is an educational resource that may be used by children. A parent or guardian should supervise account creation, purchases, translation, and handwriting features. Children should not submit personal information in translation or handwriting input. Ad requests are configured for child-directed treatment and under-age-of-consent treatment. If you believe a child has provided personal information that should be removed, contact us at the address below so we can review and address the request.

Sharing and selling information

Information is shared with providers needed for accounts, subscriptions, advertising, translation, hosting, and security, as described above, or when required by law. Their handling of information is subject to their own policies: Google, Firebase, RevenueCat, and Apple.

Security and retention

Internet transmissions cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure. Account and profile information is kept while needed to provide your account, unless you request deletion. Purchase records may be retained by payment and membership providers for verification, fraud prevention, accounting, or legal obligations. Fidel does not intentionally retain translation text or handwriting input on a Fidel-operated server. Providers may process and retain service information according to their policies.

Your choices

Translation and handwriting recognition are optional. You can use the App’s offline educational content without using those network features. Account settings include an account-deletion option. You can also request access, correction, or deletion of account data by emailing degenlogistics@gmail.com from your registered email address; we may need to verify ownership. Do not email your password. Uninstalling the app alone does not delete cloud account information or cancel subscriptions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App’s features or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated when a revised policy is published.
